At Airmo, our patented hydrostatic testing, end forming, and expansion tools for tube and pipe are built to order, so that they best fit your needs. We also have quick and easy processes for standard-sized components and accessories to ensure faster shipping of replacement parts and accessories.
Most custom tool orders are a combination of parts we have made before and can make again, and parts we pull from inventory. However, we get the occasional request for hydrostatic tools we haven’t machined before. So, what happens then?
Do I Need Customizable Hydrostatic Tools?
More often than not, requests for customized hydrostatic testing, end forming, and tube expansion tools come from our customers’ need to fit specifically for their atypically sized tube and pipes, or the desire to have collets that can grip without leaving marks. We begin the ordering process by getting more information regarding required functionality, pressure you are working with, wall thickness and outside diameter, material, service medium, and how important it is to avoid tube end marring.
Our team can then develop a quote. We strive for quick turnaround time to provide an estimate; it’s likely you know what you’re looking for, and we know how to do it.
If you’re looking for a tool but can’t find the exact size, this is a simple solution for our team. We take the measurements you need and customize a tool that can operate within your specifications. After constructing the tool, we test its capabilities before shipping it out to ensure it will work for you.
The Possibilities of Customization
When working with irregular tube sizes, our customers look to us to adjust and produce tools to fit that new standard.
Sometimes, we receive requests for customizations that we have to decline. If you are working with tubes and pipes that are off-round or made of non-metal (e.g., ceramic, plastic, glass), our tools cannot provide the results they do with round, metal materials. If your tube or pipe is off-round, our seal cannot properly hold the pressure, and the collets will not grip the material with the appropriate seal essential to its operation.
Finding the Right Fit
Once you become an Airmo customer, obtaining replacement accessories and components is easy. Collets are the most common replacement order; as they age, our proprietary finish can wear, resulting in a reduced ability to grip.
When we machine a tool for you, we are ready to help whenever you need new accessories and components.
